I am exploring the River Tyne as part of my Salmon project, hoping to see fish perhaps and to see what I find along the river. This walk was on 8th October 2016.
I started from Tyne Waters meet where the north and south Tyne join together, following the north tyne, on it’s north bank. I found lots of areas of wood and leaves dropped by floodwaters.
I was hoping to see fish and I did! I saw a fish circling slowly in the centre of the river as it was being carried downstream by the current. It was too far away to get a clear photo, but it was lifting it’s head out of the water as it drifted in circles. It was a strange sight almost as if it was trying to breathe the air.
